Privacy policy

Short version: your shop is private until you choose to share it, we only keep what the game's online features need, and this website doesn't track you.

Who we are

This policy covers the game PDR Simulator: Paintless Dent Repair (the "game"), the website pdrsimulator.com including the Hall of Fame and player profile pages, and the game's online service at pdrsimulator.com (the "server"). All of them are made and run by the developer of PDR Simulator ("we", "us"). You can reach us at our contact address.

What stays on your PC

The game saves your careers (one file each, with the career and shop name you chose, money, tools, shop layout and progress) and your settings (volume, UI size, line board color, stripe width, language) on your own computer. The game has no advertising and no analytics or tracking.

What the game sends to pdrsimulator.com

When the game is online, it talks to our server. Every request carries a one-time Steam sign-in ticket, which the server checks with Steam to confirm who you are; we never see your Steam password. The server stores:

  • Your Steam account: your SteamID and your Steam display name at the time you first connect. The display name is used to create the address of your profile page, and that address stays the same afterwards.
  • Career statistics: for each career, the shop's name, the number of repairs, the average repair score and the cash earned, plus your sharing choices.
  • Save backups: the latest copy of each career's save file (up to 20 careers per account), so you can restore a career with "Restore from pdrsimulator.com".
  • Your garage layout: only if you choose to share your garage, so other players can visit it.
  • Premium items: which optional items your Steam account owns, checked with Steam, so the game can unlock them.
  • Technical records: short-lived request counts used to stop abuse, and the server logs described below.

What is public

Everything is private by default. Only what you switch on in the game is shown to others:

  • Scores: your Steam display name, your shop's name and its score or earnings appear in the Hall of Fame on this site and in the game's Top shops page.
  • Garage: other players can visit your decorated garage from the game.
  • Public profile page: your name in the Hall of Fame links to your page at pdrsimulator.com/p/…

Turn a setting off and your shop, garage or profile is removed from public view the next time the game is online.

Steam

The game is sold and run through Steam, operated by Valve Corporation. Buying, downloading and launching the game, your Steam account, payments for the game or optional items, and Steam features such as the overlay or Steam Cloud are handled by Valve under the Steam Privacy Policy. Our server asks Steam's Web API to confirm your sign-in ticket, your display name and which of our items you own. Through Steamworks, Valve also gives us aggregated sales and usage reports that don't identify you.

This website

  • No cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking scripts.
  • The site loads no fonts, scripts or media from other companies. Videos are served from this site.
  • The server keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver pages and keep the service secure. We don't use them to identify or profile visitors.
  • Links to Steam, YouTube or social networks take you to those services, and their own privacy policies apply there.

Why we use this data

Only to run the features you use: confirming it's really you, ranking the shops you choose to share, showing the garages and profiles you choose to share, keeping backups of your careers, and unlocking items you own. We don't sell your data, don't use it for advertising and don't share it with anyone except our hosting provider, which stores it for us, and Valve as described above.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, statistics and backups while you play the game, so they're there when you come back. Only the latest backup of each career is kept. Server logs are deleted automatically after a short time. You can ask us to delete everything at any time (see below).

If you email us

We receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply and fix the problems you report. We don't add you to any mailing list.

Children

The game is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has shared information with us, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

  • Switch sharing of scores, garage and profile on or off in the game at any time.
  • Delete local saves by removing the game's save folder from your PC (see How to play ▸ Help and saves).
  • Ask us for a copy of the data linked to your Steam account, to correct it, or to delete all of it, including backups, by writing to us from any address and giving your Steam profile link.

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California) these are legal rights, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If anything here changes, we will update this page and the date below.
